Italy acted as a node since 1996. Eleonora Masini, the node chair, being very active as a Millennium Project Planning Committee Member, and collecting views from representative italian scholars and decision makers.

Eleonora Barbieri Masini is teacher of Future Studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. She is the author of several books and articles, between which : "Why Future Studies ?"

At the July ’99 Millennium Project Planning Committee Meeting, Eleonora Barbieri Masini expressed her admiration for the fast grow and recognition of the Millennium Project and the importance of its work. In Italy there were several mentions of the Millennium Project in the media.
