A great spirit of the future, pioneer of Futures Research in Finland, a flexible intelligence, and great heart, Mika Mannermaa has died.

We will miss him greatly.

Osmo Kuusi of Finland is organizing an edition of Futura-magazine that will be dedicated to Mika.

From Osmo, The idea is that the magazine does not just include memories concerning Mika. The idea is also to publish articles discussing themes that Mika has handled during his carrier. The magazine would be published in September-October 2012. In August we will have summer seminar of the Finnish Society of the Futures Studies that is also dedicated to Mika. The seminar will provide material for the magazine.

If there is something to this universe more than we know, then I think Mike is laughing somewhere about out limited views of reality and the future. May his spirit live on through our dedication to build a better future for all.
