Today’s leaders confront a wicked problem. On the one hand the current economic and financial crisis signals fundamental changes are taking place. On the other hand there is immense pressure to reduce uncertainty and make choices that are sure bets. Unfortunately these two imperatives are often in direct contradiction. The former calls for innovation and experimentation, inventing a new world. The latter is about doing what is " safe", betting on things that worked in the past.

Strategic Foresight and Futures Literacy are pratical techniques for getting out of this dilemma. This advanced course for decision makers uses a learning-by-doing approach to develop participant’s capacity to connect the future to the choices being made today. The methods acquired in this course are explicitly designed to help bridge the gap between foresight and policy formation, between thinking imaginatively about the future and determining how action can make a difference now.
